Oil Changes For Semis & Heavy-Duty Trucks

Regular oil changes are crucial for properly maintaining semis and heavy-duty trucks. Not only do they help to keep the engine running smoothly, but they also prevent expensive repairs down the road.

Fresh oil lubricates the engine’s components, minimizing friction and wear and tear, which can lead to costly breakdowns.

Even more importantly, regular oil changes improve the overall fuel economy of these vehicles, which can save operators significant amounts of money on fuel costs over time.

Service Includes:

  • Draining and replacing engine oil with the manufacturer’s recommended grade and viscosity
  • Replacing oil & fuel filters with high-quality, brand-name products
  • Inspecting and topping off all other fluids, as necessary
  • Conducting a thorough visual inspection of the vehicle to identify any potential issues

At Wayne Truck & Trailer, our team of experienced technicians is dedicated to ensuring that your trucks remain in peak condition, reducing costly downtime, and extending the life of your investment.

Transmission/Gear Box Fluid Change

The transmission/gearbox is a crucial component for semis and heavy-duty trucks that keep these vehicles moving.

Over time, the fluids in this system can become contaminated, leading to extensive wear and tear and, ultimately, damage.

One of the best ways to maintain the longevity of this system is to change the transmission/gearbox fluids regularly.

By doing so, you can ensure that your vehicle is operating at peak performance and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs down the line. Fresh fluids often improve fuel efficiency, saving you money in the long run.

Make sure you’re taking care of your truck by scheduling routine maintenance, including regular fluid changes.

Service Includes:

  • A complete drain of all fluid
  • Refill to capacity with vehicle-specific fluid
  • Visual inspection

Differential Service

When it comes to maintaining semis and heavy-duty trucks, changing the fluid in the differential may not be the first thing that comes to mind.

However, it’s an important task that can save you money and hassle in the long run.

Regularly changing the fluid in your differential can prevent wear and tear on your vehicle’s moving parts and improve its overall performance.

Over time, dirty or contaminated fluid can break down or become acidic, which can cause damage to the gears and seals in your differential.

Additionally, clean fluid helps dissipate heat and reduce friction, prolonging the life of your vehicle’s components.

Service Includes:

  • A complete drain of all fluid
  • Refill to capacity with vehicle-specific fluid
  • Visual inspection

What Our Customers Are Saying About Us

I had a roadside breakdown on I-70 due to a coolant fitting failure. They were easy to work with and the tech had made this same repair previously on other trucks. The fitting is one that connects the engine head to heater core. They had to stop by a Paccar dealership (in Dayton?) to get the part and then make the roadside repair. They gave me a price estimate before heading my way and the final bill was somewhat less since I didn’t need as much coolant as estimated. Easy to work with, I would recommend them and use them again myself – if needed. My only complaint was that they didn’t open until 8a. I would’ve given 5 stars if they could have rolled at 6a. The parts dept at Paccar opened at 7a so it wasn’t a huge impact on the schedule.

I had a bad miss on my Volvo VN with a Volvo D13 engine in it. They had the software to diagnose the problem and were able to replace the bad injector. I was back on the road the same day. Last time I had this problem I took it to a Volvo dealer, and they took a week before e they would even look at it.

Truck Service

My family and I have been traveling for the past 3 weeks in the RV. We have had terrible luck up until this point with our RV. Needless to say, many tows and service repair work. This business has gone above and beyond. They were completely understand, sympathetic, and willing to help until they figured out what the problem was! We had our dogs, kids, cat, and extended family there with us all day. There were no problems with that. We felt comfortable and at ease here! I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. The quality, communication, and price was just what we needed! Thank you to all who helped!

Semi & Heavy-Duty Maintenance FAQs

Why is maintenance essential for semi-trucks and heavy-duty vehicles?

Maintenance is vital for semi-trucks and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure safety and reliability.

Regular maintenance helps prevent breakdowns, extends the vehicle’s lifespan, improves fuel efficiency, reduces costly repairs, and maintains compliance with safety regulations.

Common maintenance tasks for semi-trucks and heavy-duty vehicles include oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, brake inspections and repairs, fluid checks and replacements, emissions cleaning, electrical system checks, and overall inspections of critical components.

The frequency of maintenance depends on factors such as mileage, usage, operating conditions, and manufacturer recommendations.

Generally, regular inspections and preventive maintenance should be conducted at specific intervals, such as every 10,000 to 15,000 miles or every three to six months.

Operators or fleet owners with the necessary knowledge, tools, and resources can perform some maintenance tasks.

However, many rely on professional service providers, like Wayne Truck & Trailer, specializing in semi-truck and heavy-duty vehicle maintenance due to their expertise, access to specialized equipment, and ability to handle complex repairs.

Outsourcing maintenance to professionals offers several benefits, including access to specialized knowledge and equipment, consistent and reliable service, reduced administrative burdens, cost savings through volume purchasing of parts, improved efficiency, minimized downtime, and the ability to focus on core business operations.

Various methods exist to track and manage maintenance schedules and records.

This can include using fleet management software, maintenance tracking spreadsheets, or working with a professional service provider who keeps detailed records and provides regular reports on maintenance performed.

If you encounter a maintenance issue, it is best to address it immediately.

Depending on the severity of the issue, you may need to consult with a professional technician or service provider to diagnose and repair the problem.

Prompt action can help prevent further damage and ensure the safety and reliability of your vehicle.
